Nitin Patel is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon based at the Chesterfield Nuffield Hospital in Clifton, Bristol. He graduated from medical school in 1987 and completed specialist Neurosurgical training in 1999 at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. He subsequently undertook a Neurosurgical fellowship in Melbourne, Australia before returning to Frenchay as a Consultant in 2000.

Nitin’s specialist interests are in routine and complex spinal surgery with over 25 years’ experience in the surgical and non-surgical management of a wide range of spinal conditions including sciatica due to lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, and cervical spine degeneration causing brachialgia and myelopathy. In addition to routine spinal surgical procedures, he is also experienced in more advanced spinal reconstruction procedures for spinal degeneration and tumours.

He was previously training programme director for Neurosurgery in South West England, chairman of the South West specialist training committee, and lead spinal surgeon for the department of Neurosurgery at Southmead hospital. He has a keen interest in training and has been involved as a faculty member on spine teaching courses both nationally and internationally.
