Nitin Patel is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon based at the Chesterfield Nuffield Hospital in Clifton, Bristol. He graduated from medical school in 1987 and completed specialist Neurosurgical training in 1999 at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. He subsequently undertook a Neurosurgical fellowship in Melbourne, Australia before returning to Frenchay as a Consultant in 2000.
Nitin’s specialist interests are in spinal surgery with over 18 years’ experience in the surgical and non-surgical management of a wide range of routine and complex spinal conditions including lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, and cervical spine degeneration and spinal tumours. He performs over 200 spinal operations annually, ranging from minimally invasive procedures for common lumbar and cervical spine disc conditions to more advanced spinal reconstruction procedures for spinal trauma and tumours.
At Frenchay Hospital, he was previously Training Programme Director for the South West covering the Bristol and Plymouth Neurosurgical units, and Chairman of the Specialist Training Committee for the South West Neurosurgical training programme. He has a keen interest in teaching and has been involved as a faculty member on spine teaching courses both nationally and internationally.
